Startup launch checklist

Eight phases and 48 steps for getting a product ready to be listed, submitted and checked. Tick as you go: progress stays in your browser and can travel in a copied link.

0 of 48 steps done

Progress is saved in this browser and in the link you copy.

1. Make the product reviewable

0 of 6

A directory editor decides in a minute whether your site is real. Fix these before you open a single form.

2. Prepare brand and trust pages

0 of 6

Listings borrow your credibility. Give them something to borrow.

3. Shape the listing itself

0 of 6

The same profile is reused across dozens of directories. Decide its shape once.

4. Build the target list

0 of 6

A list you can finish beats a list that looks impressive.

5. Submit in batches

0 of 6

Submitting is repetitive by design. Repetition is what makes it fast.

6. Verify and follow up

0 of 6

Most lost listings are not rejections. They are submissions nobody finished.

7. Check what went live

0 of 6

An approval notice is not the same as a correct listing.

8. Review the round

0 of 6

The second campaign should start from evidence instead of the same list.

A copied link carries your ticks in the address itself. Opening it on another device restores the same progress and leaves that device's own saved copy behind.

Why these 48 steps

Most launch advice is a list of nouns: logo, press kit, directory. This checklist is a list of actions with a reason attached, because the reason is what tells you whether a step applies to you. If the reason does not fit your product, skip the step without guilt.

The order matters more than the number. A broken signup wastes every submission that follows it. A profile written after forty submissions has to be corrected forty times. The phases run from making the product reviewable, through preparation and research, to submission and the review afterwards, so the cheap fixes happen before the expensive repetition.

The last phase is the one people skip. Sorting results by signups rather than by a third party score is how the second campaign gets faster. Keep the record, drop the directories that never answered, and the next launch starts from evidence instead of a fresh list of guesses.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to complete every step?

No. The phases are independent, so you can start with the ones that match your launch. If a step does not apply, skip it. The count is there to show progress, not to set a deadline.

Where is my progress stored?

In this browser, using local storage, and in the address of the page. There is no account, no email and no server copy. Clearing your browser data removes the saved copy.

How does progress travel in a link?

Each step is one bit, and the bits are packed into a short string after the hash in the address. Opening that link on another device reads the string and restores the same ticks. Nothing about you is encoded, only which positions are ticked.

Can I use the checklist somewhere else?

Yes. Copy as Markdown gives you a plain list with the same ticks, ready to paste into a notes app, a project tool or a document.

Will finishing the checklist get my product listed?

No. Each directory has its own rules, queue and editorial judgement, and approval is always theirs to give. The checklist exists to remove the avoidable reasons a submission gets ignored.

No time for the submission phase?

We run one-time campaigns of 30, 60 or 100 manual submissions for one product, with a record of every target. The list of directories is free to browse if you would rather work through it yourself.
