Scale AI

CUSTOM_PRICING

Scale AI’s GenAI Platform (SGP) and Dialect help enterprises build, run, and improve agents on their own data with model-agnostic, VPC deployment. As of September 2026 Enterprise GenAI is quote-only; Self-Serve Data Engine offers 1,000 free labeling units and 10,000 free images before pay-as-you-go.

Features:API

Scale AI is an enterprise data and generative-AI platform company. For the Vantaige directory the flagship software surface is the Scale GenAI Portfolio / Scale GenAI Platform (SGP) plus Dialect: the decision/trust layer Scale markets for agents that reason over enterprise data, run async multi-agent workflows, and improve from human feedback. Model choice is agnostic (OpenAI, Google, Meta, Mistral, and more). Deployment targets customer VPC on AWS, Azure, or GCP. As of September 2026, SGP and Enterprise GenAI remain sales-quoted with no public seat card on scale.com/pricing.

Scale also sells the Scale Data Engine (annotation + data management). Self-Serve Data Engine is the only publicly metered on-ramp: first 1,000 labeling units and first 10,000 images for data management at no cost, then pay-as-you-go via credit card. Enterprise Data Engine and GenAI Portfolio require a demo / custom contract. Scale does not publish standardized GPU-hour or per-token rates for GenAI Platform.

What Scale AI delivers as of September 2026

SGP’s published loop: Connect Data (ingest/label/structure from Confluence, SharePoint, S3, etc., data stays in place) → Build + Execute (host and orchestrate long-running async and multi-agent workflows, any model) → Evaluate + Monitor (semantic monitoring, eval scoring, full traces) → Learn + Improve (human feedback and ops telemetry become training signal). Dialect is described as the decision map that encodes expert judgment so agents become as autonomous as guardrails allow. Scale claims DoD IL4 Provisional Authorization, SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and FedRAMP High Authorized on the GenAI portfolio security block: treat as vendor claims and request evidence in procurement.

Where Scale sits versus AWS Bedrock and Writer

Amazon Bedrock is a model/API marketplace with transparent per-token rates; Scale SGP is a full agent lifecycle + data engine partnership, not a self-serve token meter. Writer competes on enterprise agents with public Starter seats and Palmyra API rates; Scale wins for regulated teams that need annotation + evaluation + agent ops under one enterprise contract (and will pay for it). Labeling peers (Labelbox, Surge, etc.) overlap Data Engine only: not Dialect/SGP.

"Ideal for strategic AI initiatives. Enterprise-grade quality & SLAs. Access both the Data Engine and Enterprise GenAI Platform." - Scale AI, scale.com/pricing, retrieved September 2026

Cost, quotas, and real usage friction

Public math stops at Self-Serve: 1,000 free labeling units and 10,000 free managed images, then credit-card pay-as-you-go (managed annotation unit rates are not on the marketing page: dashboard estimator only). Everything that matters for GenAI agents is custom. Budget friction is sales-cycle length, minimum commitments, and separate line items for annotation vs GenAI Platform vs SEAL-style eval/red-team services.

Where Scale still breaks

No public GenAI Platform price means directory users cannot compare $/seat against Writer or Amazon Q without an RFP. Self-Serve excludes Enterprise GenAI and SLAs. Vendor lock-in is denied in Scale’s FAQ (customer owns data, business logic, and custom solutions; Scale owns platform frameworks): confirm IP schedules in the signed MSA during procurement. Product naming (SGP vs GenAI Portfolio vs Dialect) shifts across pages; confirm the SKU on the order form.

"Is there any vendor lock-in? Scale's flexible, interoperable, and largely open-source technology toolkit ensures no platform lock-in, with your enterprise retaining full ownership of their data and agent code." - Scale GenAI Platform FAQ, scale.com/genai-platform, retrieved September 2026

Who should use Scale AI: and who should skip it

Use Scale if you are an enterprise or government team that needs production agents on your data with annotation, eval, and human-in-the-loop improvement: and you can run a sales engagement. Use Self-Serve Data Engine for experimental labeling only. Skip Scale GenAI if you need a published price today (Amazon Q, Writer Starter, or Bedrock tokens). Skip if you only need a consumer chatbot.
